In our house, we've tried as hard as we could to start using "safe" products. I tell you....it hasn't been easy. Right now, the series of products by Method are our favorites.
There's always been a debate about how well these thing actually clean. Recently, I've come across some reviews of some of these cleaners. Did you know that most of them do not disinfect? I kind of assumed this because the harsh ugly chemicals are the disinfecting properties of the product most of the time. But, yeah. There have been studies and such that have proved this.
So what is one supposed to do? The only thing I've thought of is to clean the really gross areas in our house, with a harsh cleaner and eco-friendly things everywhere else. I'm always open to hear how others solve this problem.

To disinfect, I use a combination of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. First wipe down the surface with vinegar, then again with the peroxide. Both can be used alone, but when used together (it doesn't matter what order), it's supposedly as good as bleach (which we do NOT use in this house).
Hope that helps. Love your blog!
I do use vinegar but have always worried about the affect the peroxide would have on some of our surfaces. I'll have to try them combined. Thanks for the tip!
You have a very nice blogs with great post. Thanks for all the wonderful information.
I never really thought about it not disinfecting...but your right. I did read the comment April left you about vinegar and peroxide, I'll have to give that a try. If you find any more info on what to do, then I hope you post it on your site. I'd be interesting in learning more on this.
I have been using the green cleaners. I think their made by clorox. They definitely smell better than the harsher stuff. Anyway I stopped by to say that I left you an award at my site. Come on over and accept it. :)
